Clarino / Environment

How green do you want it? – It cannot be green enough.

In the last few years, Clarino™ has made it its duty to develop a response to this question and play its part in making the world a better place. Going in line with Kuraray’s aim to provide unique, innovative products that help find solutions to global challenges and improve the quality of life, Clarino™ takes its social and environmental responsibility seriously.

For the Clarino™ business the change has already started one decade ago. In 2009, the first step towards sustainability was taken when Kuraray developed and commissioned a new CATS (Clarino Advanced Technology System) plant for the waterborne production of manmade and nonwoven microfibers. Tirrenina, the world’s first microfiber manufactured waterborne, was launched in 2009, making Clarino™ a pioneer in this field. With the aim of minimizing the impact on the environment, the company has succeeded in reducing water consumption by 70% and CO2 emissions by 30%. The CATS plant is also used to manufacture other waterborne products in the Clarino™ range.

Now Clarino™ is committed to provide the world a microfiber manufacturing process, which is even cleaner, safer and greener. The company’s mission is to produce durable and high quality products that go hand in hand with the understanding of sustainability. Clarino™ wants to abolish wasteful practices and toxic materials and protect workers and the environment. Therefore, they strive to offer the market sustainable alternatives with innovative design and longevity. Going in line with these core values all fabrics are produced without fluorinated hydrocarbons and do not contain any environmentally harmful additives. In order to achieve their sustainability targets, especially the new production lines focus strongly on the environmental impact.

To prove Clarino’s™ globally sustainable awareness of the responsible use of chemicals and to provide our customers with more transparent supplier relationships, Clarino™ was successfully certified by the RCS Blended Standard by Control Union and the Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX.
